AI share of voice is the percentage of AI-generated answers to your buyers' questions that name your brand, compared with how often they name your competitors.
In SparkToro's 2,961-run study across ChatGPT, Claude and Google's AI, there was under a 1 in 100 chance that ChatGPT or Google's AI would give the same list of brands in any two responses. A single answer is a sample, not a measurement.
How is AI share of voice measured?
Fix a set of buyer questions that leave your name out, run each several times on the same engines, and count who gets named. Count source links separately: citations are how AEO is measured.
ORRJO's AI visibility audit reports how often you appear, not a score. See also AI visibility tools compared and SEO vs AEO vs GEO.
Questions buyers ask
How does ORRJO measure AI share of voice?
The AI visibility audit puts your buyers' questions to the AI engines several times each, without your name in them, and publishes the middle answer. The optional monitor reruns your exact question set monthly, showing how often answers name you and who gets named instead.
Why do share of voice figures disagree?
Each comes from its own sample: the questions, engines, number of runs, competitors counted and formula. Compare two figures only when they were measured the same way.
Is AI share of voice a ranking?
No. AI tools rarely list brands in the same order twice. SparkToro concluded that visibility percentage across dozens to hundreds of prompts, run multiple times, is a reasonable metric, and that a ranking position in AI is not.
