Seven competitive intelligence providers with a UK base, office or contact address are worth shortlisting in 2026: Octopus Intelligence, UK Data Services, B2B International, Cognosis, Dialog, Fletcher CSI and Fuld. Only UK Data Services publishes a price: £2,500 for a one-off report on up to five competitors. ORRJO, which publishes this page, offers ORRJO Intelligence from £2,500 a month.
If you would rather run competitive intelligence in-house with software, this list also covers Wynter, Crayon and Klue. Wynter is the only one of the three that publishes prices, with its Pro plan at $20,000 a year. Crayon and Klue publish none, and Vendr's buyer transaction data puts the median paid at $30,000 a year for both Crayon and Klue. Anova Consulting Group, Cascade Insights and Clozd complete the list as win-loss and B2B research specialists. Every fact below comes from each firm's own website, checked on 13 October 2026, unless a third-party source is named.
Which competitive intelligence provider fits your need?
It depends on the job: Octopus Intelligence for primary research on rivals, UK Data Services for a fixed-price competitor report, Clozd or Anova Consulting Group for win-loss interviews, and Crayon or Klue if your own team will run the software. These firms do different work, so match the provider to the need:
- Primary research into how competitors price, package, pitch and sell: Octopus Intelligence.
- A fixed-price report on a short list of named competitors: UK Data Services.
- Competitive intelligence inside a wider B2B market or brand research study: B2B International.
- Benchmarking your business against competitors to inform strategy: Cognosis.
- War games, early warning and monthly battlecard refreshes: Fuld.
- Win-loss interviews: Clozd or Anova Consulting Group, or Dialog if you are a B2B SaaS company that also wants positioning and messaging work.
- Always-on competitor monitoring and battlecards, run by your own team: Crayon or Klue.
- Message and positioning tests with B2B buyers, with results in 12 to 48 hours: Wynter.
- Research that turns straight into outbound sequences, a named account list and a positioning brief: ORRJO Intelligence (the publisher's entry).
How did we build this list?
We compared what each provider publishes about itself on its own website, checked on 13 October 2026, using five rules. We started from the firms that appeared in a Google UK search for "competitive intelligence agency uk" on that date, the service firms in Crayon's partner directory, the research and software firms we already track as alternatives to ORRJO Intelligence, and a firm an AI assistant named for UK win-loss and buyer research.
- What qualifies. The firm's own site lists competitor or competitive intelligence, competitive analysis or win-loss research as a service.
- Where facts come from. Each firm's own pages. Two third-party sources are used and named where they appear: Vendr's buyer transaction data for Crayon and Klue prices, and RevenueBase's count of UK providers.
- How the list is ordered. Firms with a UK base, office or contact address come first, then specialists that state no UK office, then software. Inside each group, a firm that publishes a price or a delivery time comes first, because you can plan around it, and ties are alphabetical. This is an order for planning, not a quality score: we compared what each firm publishes, not the quality of its work.
- Currencies. Prices appear as each firm publishes them. We have not converted dollars to pounds.
- Disclosure. ORRJO sells competitive intelligence. ORRJO Intelligence appears after the 13 ranked providers as the publisher's entry and is not ranked. Lists published by vendors carry the publisher's interest: Klue's own list of CI platforms puts Klue first.
Any list like this is a shortlist. RevenueBase's directory found 551 company matches for competitive intelligence providers associated with the UK as of September 2026, with London the largest hub at 51.7% and a median size of 1 to 10 employees. RevenueBase matches firms by their business descriptions, which it says "are not guaranteed quotations from the company's website", so treat that count as a rough size of the field. We left out corporate investigation firms and sector specialists, which are covered further down.
How do the 13 providers compare on price, delivery and UK presence?
Two of the 13 ranked providers publish a price (UK Data Services and Wynter) and three publish a typical delivery time (Octopus Intelligence, UK Data Services and Wynter). Anova publishes a typical programme length. Everything else in the table is "not published", which means we could not find it on the firm's own site on 13 October 2026.

Which competitive intelligence agencies with a UK presence should you shortlist?
Start with these seven: each gives a UK base, office or contact address on its own website and lists competitor research among its services. Octopus Intelligence and UK Data Services come first because they publish a delivery time or a price.
1. Octopus Intelligence
Type: competitive intelligence agency · Base: Nottingham · Price: not published · Delivery: two to six weeks
Octopus describes itself as "a competitive intelligence agency built by former British military intelligence analysts". It combines open-source research with HUMINT-led (human intelligence) primary fieldwork across the UK, Europe, North America and MENA, and its services include competitor analysis, B2B mystery shopping, market intelligence and analyst-led win-loss interviews. It has no rate card. Every project is scoped "to a fixed price before we start", and its pricing page says the price adjusts with "your insight level, the number of competitors, and how often you need updates". Most projects run from two to six weeks, depending on scope.
Best for: primary research into how competitors price, package, pitch and sell.
2. UK Data Services
Type: data extraction firm with competitor reports · Base: Hickling, Norfolk · Price: from £2,500 · Delivery: 2-3 weeks for a report
UK Data Services, the trading name of DataNorfolk Ltd, calls itself "a small UK data extraction firm" and works with clients across the UK remotely. It is the only ranked UK firm here that publishes competitive intelligence prices. Its Competitor Report costs £2,500 one-time, covers up to 5 competitors with a SWOT analysis for each and a pricing and positioning review, and has 2-3 week delivery. Market Intelligence costs £5,000+ with 4-6 week delivery, and a Strategic Retainer costs £3,500 a month. It says all projects include a dedicated analyst.
Best for: a fixed-price report on a short list of named competitors.
3. B2B International
Type: B2B market research agency · Base: Manchester headquarters · Price: not published · Delivery: not published
B2B International is part of dentsu B2B, has its headquarters in Manchester and lists London and Edinburgh among its offices. Its competitive intelligence research includes competitor profiling, which it carries out by speaking to competitors' customers and distributors, as well as brand mapping, benchmarking and horizon scanning, which it describes as "Daily scanning of over 15k future-orientated professional news and expert sources". It reports 900+ clients.
Best for: competitive intelligence as part of a wider B2B market or brand research study.
4. Cognosis
Type: strategy consultancy · Base: 10 York Road, London · Price: not published · Delivery: not published
Cognosis Consulting offers competitor benchmarking and intelligence. In its words: "We help develop objective, insight-driven competitor analysis and real competitor intelligence". The areas it suggests benchmarking include financial performance, propositions, pricing, customer experience, routes to market, innovation, capabilities and competitive positioning, and it warns against trying to benchmark everything.
Best for: benchmarking your business against named competitors to inform strategy.
5. Dialog
Type: product marketing agency · Base: 124 City Road, London · Price: not published · Delivery: not published
Dialog is a product marketing agency for B2B SaaS scale-ups. It describes its approach in one line: "Through win/loss research, competitive analysis and buyer interviews, we build positioning and messaging".
Best for: B2B SaaS teams that want competitive research turned into positioning and messaging.
6. Fletcher CSI
Type: primary research and competitive intelligence firm · Base: Burlington, Vermont, with a UK contact address in Marlow · Price: not published · Delivery: not published
Fletcher says it has been a source for primary research "Since 1988" and reports 50k+ primary interviews. Its services include primary research, win-loss and competitor monitoring across five core industries: financial services, technology, life sciences, consumer packaged goods and industrials. Its primary research ranges from quick-turn projects to multi-year engagements. It is listed in Crayon's partner directory.
Best for: interview-led competitive intelligence in one of its five core industries.
7. Fuld
Type: competitive and market intelligence consultancy · Base: London office (no headquarters named) · Price: not published · Delivery: not published
Fuld says it was founded in 1978 and "pioneered the practice of competitive intelligence". Its London office is at 42 Upper Berkeley Street, alongside offices in San Francisco, New York, New Delhi, Mumbai and Singapore. Its services include war gaming and competitive simulations, and its monitoring work runs to a set rhythm: "Dashboards update continuously, battlecards refresh monthly, early warning systems monitor 24/7." It cites a 2.2M+ expert network across 100+ markets. Crayon's partner directory lists it as Fuld & Company.
Best for: war games, early warning systems and ongoing monitoring from a long-established consultancy.
Which win-loss and B2B research specialists are worth a look?
Anova Consulting Group, Cascade Insights and Clozd specialise in interview-led research and win-loss analysis. None states a UK office on its site, so ask how they reach and interview UK buyers before you sign.
8. Anova Consulting Group
Type: win-loss consultancy · Base: Brookline, Massachusetts · Price: not published · Length: annual programme, or a pilot
Anova runs win-loss analysis programmes. Its FAQ says "Typically a Win / Loss Analysis program runs on an ongoing annual basis", with a one quarter or six month pilot available, and adds: "While our team is U.S.-based, Anova Consulting Group has global clients and interviewing capabilities."
Best for: an ongoing win-loss programme rather than a one-off study.
9. Cascade Insights
Type: B2B market research firm · Base: roots in Portland, Oregon, with a team it says has spread all over the country · Price: not published · Delivery: not published
Cascade Insights says it has "done competitive intelligence work since our inception". Its competitor research works by talking to your competitors' customers, partners and former sales reps to find which differentiators matter to target buyers, and its services also include B2B win-loss research.
Best for: learning how buyers see you against competitors, from the people who buy from those competitors.
10. Clozd
Type: win-loss software and interview service · Base: Lehi, Utah, per the structured data on its About page · Price: not published · Delivery: not published
Clozd's founders started the company in 2017 and it says it has conducted "tens of thousands of win-loss interviews". It offers three interview modes: human-led, where "A seasoned Clozd interviewer runs a 30-minute conversation with your buyer", AI-assisted, and AI-led, which is in beta. Crayon's partner directory describes it as providing "win-loss analysis software and services".
Best for: buyer interviews at volume, with a choice of human or AI interviewers.
Which competitive intelligence software should you compare?
Compare Wynter, Crayon and Klue, which your own team runs. Only Wynter publishes prices. For Crayon and Klue, the public figure we found is Vendr's buyer transaction data, which puts the median paid at $30,000 a year for both Crayon and Klue.
11. Wynter
Type: B2B research platform with a managed service · Base: Austin, Texas, per its site's structured data · Price: from $20,000/yr · Delivery: 12-48 hours per study
Wynter runs message, positioning and brand research with verified B2B buyers. Its published plans are Pro at $20,000/yr with 20,000 credits (1 credit = 1 dollar), Elite at $40,000/yr with 27,000 credits, a dedicated research advisor and up to 6 fully managed projects per year, and Wynter Black, its research-as-a-service tier, at $100,000 a year. Brand tracking starts at $15K a year, and pay-as-you-go tests are available without a subscription. Results arrive in 12-48 hours per study. Wynter is clear about one limit: "we don't do win-loss interviews".
Best for: fast tests of messaging, ICP and positioning with B2B buyers.
12. Crayon
Type: competitive intelligence software · Base: Boston, Massachusetts · Price: not published · Delivery: not published
Crayon "monitors your competitors and alerts you to relevant intel", and puts battlecards inside tools such as Salesforce, Slack and Highspot. It publishes no price: "Crayon's pricing is tailored to the needs of your competitive intelligence program." Vendr reports that the median buyer pays $30,000 per year, based on data from 93 purchases (last updated February 2026). Crayon also runs a partner directory of competitive intelligence service firms.
Best for: always-on competitor monitoring and battlecards for sales teams.
13. Klue
Type: competitive intelligence and win-loss software · Base: Vancouver · Price: not published · Delivery: not published
Klue was founded in 2015 and describes itself as "One platform where your competitive intelligence and win-loss programs run together", with human expert interviews available for win-loss. It publishes no price, and its own guide to CI platforms tells buyers to "Expect to discuss your specific needs with vendors rather than finding public pricing." Vendr reports a median of $30,000 per year, based on data from 106 purchases (last updated February 2026).
Best for: running competitive intelligence and win-loss in one platform.
Where does ORRJO Intelligence fit? Publisher's entry
ORRJO Intelligence is the competitive intelligence and ICP research service of ORRJO, the agency that publishes this page, and it starts from £2,500 a month. We list it so you can compare it on the same terms, but we have not ranked it against the 13 providers above.
Type: analyst-led research retainer · Base: headquartered in Glasgow, registered office in London · Price: from £2,500 a month
- What is inside it. Competitive intelligence and positioning research, ICP definition and named account targeting, buyer voice research and a verbatim quote bank, and a market opportunity and channel playbook. Win-loss, voice of customer and buyer interviews are delivered inside ORRJO Intelligence too.
- Five modules. Market Opportunity Analysis, ICP Deep Dive, Competitive Intelligence Brief, Channel and Campaign Playbook, and Ready to Execute Assets: outbound email sequences, LinkedIn templates, a named account list (CSV and CRM ready) and a positioning brief for sales.
- How findings are checked. Halt rules, a validation layer, an audit trail, three confidence tiers (High, Moderate and Lower) and one named analyst. AI tools such as Perplexity and Claude handle retrieval and first draft synthesis, and the named analyst verifies every claim, rates each finding and signs the report. On a recent engagement that meant 220 verified sources and 2 factual errors caught and fixed before client delivery.
- Price and terms. From £2,500 a month, standalone or included in a full ORRJO engagement. A 3-month paid pilot is available to start. Engagements typically run 6 to 12 months, and committing to 12 months earns a discounted rate.
Best for: B2B teams that want the research to turn straight into outbound sequences, a named account list and a positioning brief for sales.
Watch-out: ORRJO Intelligence is sold as a monthly retainer, not a one-off report. If you need a single fixed-price report, a project firm such as UK Data Services may suit you better.
See the full service on the ORRJO Intelligence page, how the checks work on our methodology page, and every ORRJO price on the pricing page.
Do you need a competitive intelligence agency or software?
Buy software if someone on your team owns competitive intelligence and your main need is tracking competitors' public moves and keeping battlecards current. Hire an agency if you need primary research, such as interviews with buyers or competitors' customers, or if nobody has the time to run a programme.
Octopus Intelligence puts the difference in one line: "Software tracks public signals from a distance." Klue, which sells software, makes a related point from the other side. Its build-versus-buy calculator assumes you "still need someone running the program" after you buy a platform, with defaults of a $120k annual enterprise licence and a programme owner at 0.30 of a full-time role costed at $200k a year. Those are adjustable inputs in Klue's calculator, not Klue prices.
| Option | What you get | Published price examples | Published timing | Who does the work |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| CI software (Crayon, Klue) | Competitor monitoring, alerts and battlecards | Vendr median $30,000 a year for Crayon and for Klue | A few hours to several weeks to implement, per Klue's guide | Your team |
| Research platform with a managed service (Wynter) | Surveys and message tests with verified B2B buyers | $20,000/yr to $100,000 a year | 12-48 hours per study | Wynter's researchers with your team |
| Full-service research agency, as Wynter describes it | Study design, fieldwork, analysis and a presentation | "Per project, often five or six figures" | "Several weeks to a few months" | The agency |
| CI agency project (Octopus Intelligence, UK Data Services) | Competitor reports and primary research | £2,500 for a UK Data Services report | Two to six weeks for most Octopus projects | The agency |
| CI retainer (UK Data Services, ORRJO) | Ongoing briefings, research and assets | £3,500 a month (UK Data Services); from £2,500 a month (ORRJO) | Ongoing | The agency, with your team |
Survey data points both ways, so read it with care. Crayon's State of Competitive Intelligence 2026 says "Two-thirds of teams now run a dedicated CI platform, up from roughly a third in 2022", and does not state its sample size on that page. Wynter's survey of 101 B2B SaaS product marketers, run in April 2026, found that only 14% rely on dedicated CI tools, while 21% use ChatGPT, Claude or other LLMs as a source of competitive intelligence. The two surveys asked different people different questions, so they are not one trend.
Wynter's survey also shows why ownership matters. Only 21% of B2B SaaS companies have a dedicated competitive intelligence person or team, product marketing runs CI as a side job at 52%, and 47% of product marketers say their battlecards go stale within 3 months (82% within 6 months). If nobody owns the programme, software alone will not keep it current.
How much does competitive intelligence cost in the UK?
Published UK prices start at £2,500: UK Data Services charges £2,500 for a one-off report on up to five competitors, and ORRJO Intelligence starts from £2,500 a month. Most firms publish no figure at all. Octopus Intelligence says "There is no single standard price for competitive intelligence", and Klue's guide says the same of software. These are the prices we found published, as each firm states them.
| Provider | What you buy | Published price |
|---|---|---|
| UK Data Services | Competitor Report, up to 5 competitors | £2,500 one-time |
| UK Data Services | Market Intelligence, 10+ competitor deep-dives | £5,000+ |
| UK Data Services | Strategic Retainer | £3,500 a month |
| ORRJO (publisher's entry) | ORRJO Intelligence | From £2,500 a month |
| Wynter | Pro plan | $20,000/yr |
| Wynter | Elite plan | $40,000/yr |
| Wynter | Wynter Black (research as a service) | $100,000 a year |
| Wynter | B2B brand tracking | From $15K a year |
| Crayon | Software licence | Not published; Vendr median $30,000 per year (93 purchases) |
| Klue | Software licence | Not published; Vendr median $30,000 per year (106 purchases) |
UK Data Services also gives its own view of the UK market: "Competitive intelligence services in the UK typically range from £2,500 for a focused competitor analysis report to £5,000-£25,000 for comprehensive market research projects", with ongoing retainers at "£3,500-£10,000 per month". That is one vendor's view, not an independent survey.
Three things move the price, according to Octopus Intelligence: "your insight level, the number of competitors, and how often you need updates". For ORRJO, scope is agreed on the discovery call before contract, and bundling ORRJO Intelligence with another ORRJO service comes at a discounted combined rate. For a fuller breakdown of software licences, retainers, one-off projects and the cost of an in-house hire, see our competitive intelligence pricing guide.
How long does a competitive intelligence project take?
Most published project timelines on the sites we checked run from two to six weeks, and UK Data Services' FAQ allows 4-8 weeks for comprehensive projects. Single research studies are much quicker and win-loss programmes much longer.
| Provider | Work | Published timeline |
|---|---|---|
| Wynter | One research study | 12-48 hours |
| UK Data Services | Competitor Report | 2-3 weeks |
| Octopus Intelligence | Most projects | Two to six weeks, depending on scope |
| UK Data Services | Market Intelligence | 4-6 weeks; its FAQ says comprehensive projects may take 4-8 weeks |
| Full-service research agency, as Wynter describes it | Study design to presentation | Several weeks to a few months |
| Anova Consulting Group | Win-loss programme | Ongoing annual basis; pilot of one quarter or six months |
Can AI do competitive intelligence?
AI can gather and summarise public information quickly, but most practitioners do not trust it unchecked. In Klue's AI in Competitive Intelligence Report 2026, a survey of 250+ CI and product marketing professionals, 88% said they had active AI workflows or agents for CI, yet 76% had an AI output they could not stand behind and 79% did not trust AI outputs to go directly to their sellers. Our guide to what AI competitive intelligence cannot find covers the gaps in more detail.
At ORRJO, AI tools handle retrieval and first draft synthesis, and a named analyst verifies every claim, rates each finding and signs the report. Whoever you hire, ask how a finding gets from an AI output to your sales team, and who checks it on the way.
Is a competitive intelligence agency the same as an investigations firm?
No. The firms on this list research competitors and buyers to inform pricing, positioning and sales, while some firms that appear in UK searches for competitive intelligence are investigators. International Intelligence Limited says it has supplied international corporate investigation services since 2002, and Research Associates describes itself as one of the longest running private investigation agencies in the UK. Some firms do both: Octopus Intelligence lists corporate investigations alongside competitor analysis. Before you brief anyone, check that the firm's own site describes the kind of work you need.
If you sell in life sciences or healthcare, look at specialists we left out of the main list. Deallus describes itself as "a global life science consultancy with a heritage in Competitive Intelligence", and Solici is the strategic competitive intelligence division of Cambridge Healthcare Research.
Frequently asked questions
What does a competitive intelligence agency do?
A competitive intelligence agency researches your competitors and your market so you can make pricing, positioning and sales decisions. Octopus Intelligence defines competitive intelligence as the gathering and analysis of information about your competitors and the market. On the sites we checked, typical work includes competitor profiles and pricing reviews, interviews with buyers and competitors' customers, win-loss analysis, competitor monitoring and battlecards, and war games.
Do I need a competitive intelligence agency or software?
Choose software if someone on your team owns competitive intelligence and you mainly need to track competitors' public moves and keep battlecards current. Choose an agency if you need primary research, such as interviews with buyers or competitors' customers, or if nobody has time to run a programme. Klue, which sells software, builds its own build-versus-buy calculator on the assumption that you "still need someone running the program".

Published UK prices start at £2,500. UK Data Services charges £2,500 for a one-off report on up to five competitors, £5,000+ for market intelligence and £3,500 a month for a retainer. Most agencies, including Octopus Intelligence, Fuld and B2B International, publish no price. Can AI do competitive intelligence?
AI can gather and summarise public information quickly, but most practitioners do not trust it unchecked. In Klue's 2026 survey of 250+ CI and product marketing professionals, 76% had an AI output they could not stand behind and 79% did not trust AI outputs to go directly to their sellers. ORRJO uses AI tools such as Perplexity and Claude for retrieval and first draft synthesis, and a named analyst verifies every claim.
Which competitive intelligence agencies are based in the UK?
On this list, Octopus Intelligence works from Nottingham, B2B International has its headquarters in Manchester, UK Data Services is based in Hickling, Norfolk, Cognosis and Dialog give London addresses, Fuld has a London office and Fletcher CSI has a UK contact address in Marlow. ORRJO, which publishes this page, is headquartered in Glasgow with its registered office in London.
What should I ask a competitive intelligence agency before signing?
Ask for samples of their work and for references, two of the checks a guest post on Crayon's blog recommends. Then ask what drives the price, since Octopus Intelligence names insight level, the number of competitors and how often you need updates. Ask how long delivery takes, who does the research, and how each finding is sourced and checked before it reaches you.
